about

Abby J. Gleadhill (she/they) is a soft sculpture enthusiast practising on Whadjuk Noongar Land. She is currently studying at the University of Western Australia majoring in Fine Arts and Gender Studies, minoring in Curatorial Studies. Set to graduate in 2024, their work delves into the intersections of identity, social commentary, and feminist critique, using cyberfeminism to explore how digital trends and media narratives shape and often exploit marginalized identities.

Through soft sculpture, photography, and text, Abby examines the effects of societal expectations and capitalist structures on women and marginalized communities, utilizing humor and whimsy to dissect complex themes. Their work invites viewers to reflect on the impact of social media, particularly its role in influencing camaraderie, identity, and the reclamation of youthfulness amid systemic pressures.
